Like hide glue, with additional advantages
Fish glue is a traditional woodworking glue with a strong bond that dries crystal-hard like hide glue.
High tack and long working time
Fish glue is tacky when wet, not slippery. This helps to hold parts in place while you clamp or apply rubber bands. The long 30-minute working time is convenient, too. Cure time: 12 hours.
No mixing, no heating
Fish Glue is ready to use right out of the bottle at room temperature. No mixing or heating needed.
Reactivates with water
Water reactivates dried fish glue, making the joint tacky again for reworking.
Features:
•High strength
•Long working time
•Water clean-up
•Non-flammable, non-toxic
Storage tip
To get the most out of your glue, repairman Flip Scipio recommends keeping a main bottle stored in the fridge, and transferring to a smaller dispenser bottle as needed.
"Fish Glue typically has a shelf life of about one year. Refrigeration will help to extend the shelf life as it prevents bacteria from forming. The cold will cause the glue to thicken, so it will need to sit at room temperature for about an hour before it returns to normal viscosity."
—Flip Scipio, master guitar craftsman and repairman
If ever in doubt about a glue's freshness, test it on scrap to be certain that it dries hard.
