Setting the MSA-SP apart from conventional 335-style guitars is its proprietary body construction: built around a slightly downsized, ultra-comfortable 15" lower bout, the mahogany rim and center block are carved from solid mahogany, then sandwiched between an arched curly/flamed maple top and back. This delivers an acoustic airiness and low feedback profile at a remarkably lightweight ~6.4 lbs.
P-90 Electronics Package:
Unlike the humbucker-equipped MSA-HP model, the MSA-SP comes factory-outfitted with dual Fujigen SP90 soapbar pickups. Wound specifically for semi-hollow resonance, these P-90s deliver a clear, chiming top end, woody low-register bloom, and rich mid-frequency growl that responds immediately to pick attack and guitar volume cleanup. The controls feature classic dual volume and dual tone pots with a 3-way toggle switch.
The 1-piece African mahogany U-shape set neck is mated via a sculpted, hand-smoothed heel joint for unhindered upper-fret access. The 305mm-radius rosewood fingerboard is finished with Fujigen's proprietary Circle Fretting System (C.F.S.)—featuring subtly curved medium-jumbo frets where each string intersects at a true 90-degree angle for pitch intonation, sustained clarity, and chord definition across the fretboard—capped with hand-filed rounded fret edge treatment.
Hardware appointments include a nickel Gotoh GE104B bridge with brass saddles, a lightweight Gotoh GE101A aluminum stop tailpiece, and Gotoh SD90-SL vintage-style tuning machines.
